This is the first edition of the brand new Canadian label Sweet Farewell. And what a wonderful start! – The Bells Shall Sound Forever is a brilliant tribute to the not less extraordinary David Tibet.
Although I am not a great admirer of this kind of editions, I must admit that this one surprised me in the best way. Sweet Farewell was able to put together a group of projects, among the most interesting existing now, that, as expected, present some tracks with a quality above the average.
When I started listening for the first time I was astonished by the brilliant ‘Death Of The Corn’ version (one of the my Current 93 favourite tracks) presented by Sonne Hagal. From there to the end of the almost seventy minutes, there are only a few tracks that leave us indifferent.
Without undervaluing the remaining projects, I have to dettach, besides Sonne Hagal, the excellent participation of O Paradis and Der Feuerkreiner for being the more innovator; Sonne Hagal for the excellent vocalization, O Paradis for translating into Spanish ‘Calling For Vanished Faces I’ – which makes the version very interesting and welcoming – and Der Feuerkreiner for the way they managed to redesign ‘Soft Black Stars’ – with rather military and dark sonorities that never offend the original.
Definitely this is an edition to buy.

Esta é a primeira edição desta recente editora Canadiana Sweet Farewell. E que excelente forma de começar! – The Bells Shall Sound Forever é um brilhante tributo ao não menos extraordinário David Tibet.
Apesar de não ser grande apreciador deste tipo de edições, tenho de admitir que esta me surpreendeu pela positiva. A Sweet Farewell conseguiu juntar um grupo de projectos, dos mais interessantes da actualidade, que, como seria de esperar, nos apresentam temas de uma qualidade acima da média.
Quando comecei a ouvir este CD pela primeira vez fiquei deslumbrado pela brilhante versão de ‘Death Of The Corn’ (um dos meu temas preferidos dos Current 93) apresentado pelos Sonne Hagal. Dai até ao final dos quase setenta minutos são poucos os temas que nos deixam indiferentes.
Sem querer menosprezar os restantes projectos tenho de salientar, para além dos Sonne Hagal, a excelente participação de O Paradis e Der Feuerkreiner por terem sido os mais inovadores; os Sonne Hagal pela excelente vocalização, os O Paradis por terem traduzido o tema ‘Calling For Vanished Faces I’ para espanhol – o que o torna muito interessante e acolhedor - e os Der Feuerkreiner pela forma como conseguiram redesenhar ‘Soft Black Stars’ – com uma sonoridade bastante militarista e obscura que em nada ofende o original.
Definitivamente esta é uma edição a adquirir.
