Lubélia Travassos is a member of the Portuguese Theosophical Society and gives us here a theosophical view of the Evolution (or (Involution) of the world, as a counterpoint to the Darwinist outlook of the evolution of the species and to the scientific materialism.
What happened in Atlantis and culminated with its tragic disappearance is what is happening in our present society: Mankind keeps making the same mistakes and everything will lead us to catastrophes identical to those of the ancient continent.
The Author presents an extremely accessible explanation, for a reader to whom the writings of Madame Blavatsky might seem too intricate, about the Root-Races and their elucidation.
The three first races were ethereal, living entities without density.
The First Race was the Astral Race and it was unicellular (a giant cell of 50 meters, the so-called «Wheels» of the Greek and of the Bible) and the continent where it emerged was called the «Polar Continent», as it is understood that it is the true Spiritual and Physical Pole of the Earth. This race developed one only sense, which was «Hearing», that is, the beings started reacting to vibrations.
The Second Race brought to expression the Hyperborean Continent, with the form of a circle or a horseshoe around the North Pole. The sense developed by the Second Race was the «Tactile». The Greek Mythology calls these men the «Giants with a Thousand Arms», who could be 18 meters high.
At the end of the Earliest Age, the Third Continent, Lemuria, started to emerge and with it raises the Third Race (maybe 45 million years ago). The Third Race developed the «Vision» and the Cyclops, or giants, appear, at first with one eye only, located at the fontanel, and later with three eyes. The third eye was the spiritual eye, granting them a vision which is now called clairvoyance. This was the continent of the giants, eight or nine meters high, and of the dinosaurs.
Lemuria was the motherland of the early childhood of the Human Race, or pre-human race, as Mankind was not yet endowed with a mind and with the Spirit of God living in it; it was the sole Continent of the complete Human Races, which then was divided in the matrixes of five Continents. It was also this Root-Race that gave raise the first Sub-Races, this because, the bodies being semi-dense, there was already sexual intercourse aiming at the reproduction but, since the Spirit of God did not yet inhabit them, they did not know the so-called morality and so they had sexual intercourse with animals existing then and this intercourse gave raise to the Sub-Races (as mentioned in the Greek texts when speaking of the beings who were half men and half animals).
But, aside from these deviations, the possibility arose for the upcoming of a Fourth Root-Race in a new continent, Atlantis, this race being the first one of a completely dense human being.
And at last appears the Fifth and last Root-Race, the Arian, the now existing, and ours. Aside from these explanations, the Author also develops in some detail the theme of life habits, plants and minerals of those ancient times.

A autora dá uma explicação extremamente acessível ao leitor, a quem os escritos de Madame Blavatsky possam parecer demasiados complexos, acerca das Raças-Raiz e sua explicação.
As três primeiras raças foram etéreas, eram seres vivos sem densidade.
A Primeira Raça era a Raça Astral e era unicelular (era uma célula gigante de 50 metros, as chamadas “Rodas” dos Gregos e da Bíblia) e o continente onde surgiu foi denominado “Continente Polar” pois se entende que aquele é o verdadeiro Pólo Espiritual e Físico da Terra. Esta raça apenas desenvolveu um sentido que foi o da “Audição”, isto é, os seres começaram a reagir a vibrações.
A Segunda Raça trouxe à manifestação o Continente Hiperbóreo, que fazia um círculo ou ferradura à volta do pólo Norte. O órgão dos sentidos desenvolvido na Segunda Raça-Raiz foi o “Táctil”. A Mitologia Grega chamou a estes homens os “Gigantes dos mil braços”, que atingiam os 18 metros de altura.
No fim da Era Primária começou a formar-se o Terceiro Continente, o da Lemúria e com ele surge a Terceira Raça (talvez há 45 milhões de anos). A Terceira Raça desenvolveu a “Visão”; aparecem então os Ciclopes, ou gigantes, inicialmente só com um olho, localizado na “moleirinha” e depois, três olhos. O terceiro olho era o espiritual e dava-lhe uma visão a que hoje se chama clarividência. Foi este o continente dos homens gigantes, que mediam oito e nove metros de altura, e dos dinossauros.
A Lemúria foi o berço da infância da Raça Humana ou pré-humana, pois ainda não estava dotada de mente e do Espírito Divino que nela habita; foi o Continente único das Raças Humanas completas, que se dividiu nas matrizes de cinco Continentes. Foi também a partir desta Raça-Raiz que surgiram as primeiras Sub-Raças pois, sendo os corpos semi-densos, já havia contactos sexuais destinados à reprodução, mas, como os corpos ainda não estavam habitados pelo Espírito Divino, não conheciam aquilo a que se chama moralidade, o que os levava a ter contactos sexuais com animais existentes na altura; desses contactos acabaram por surgir então as Sub-Raças (como é referido nos textos Gregos em relação aos seres meio-homem e meio-animal).
Mas, aparte estes desvios, foi possível que surgisse uma Quarta Raça-Raiz num novo continente, a Atlântida, sendo esta a do primeiro homem completamente denso. Finalmente surge a Quinta e última Raça-Raiz, a Ariana e a nossa actual.
Além destas explicações, a autora ainda desenvolve bastante em torno do modo de vida, plantas e minerais dessas épocas recuadas.
